Around 100 summer campers and camp counselors were at Southgate Coastal Reserve for a Field Day today! Campers searched in the mud for pond critters, did a sea turtle researcher simulation, beach scavenger hunt, seine net activity, learned
about water pollution, and more. This event was organized by the St. Croix Environmental Association but couldn’t have been done without help from the National Park Service, Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge, UVI Marine Advisory Service, St. Croix East End Marine Park, Virgin Islands Network of Environmental Educators, and DPNR Environmental Protection – Coastal Zone Management and Water Pollution divisions. Thank you to Big Island Adventures Summer Camp and Caribbean Youth Alive Summer Camp for supporting your campers’ participation. A big thank you to volunteer Julia Meurice for being our photographer!
